he National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the dates for registration and exam schedule of various competitive exams such as University Grants Commission-National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET), Joint Entrance Examination-Main (JEE-main) and National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG), Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) and Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) on Tuesday. And the NEET-UG will be “a single exam in pen and paper mode and in the same number of languages as has been conducted in 2018.”
The government earlier in July 2018 announced a tentative schedule for the exams and also said that the JEE-main and NEET-UG will be conducted twice a year and all the exams will be computer based. However, following the request from the ministry of health and family welfare, it was decided that the medical/dental entrance test will continue to be an annual exam on pen and paper mode with no change in pattern.
MHRD today announced its decision to conduct NEET 2019 only once a year following Health Ministry’s recommendation. As for the registration forms for JEE Main 1 2019, as per the new schedule, the online application forms would begin from September 1, 2018, and the examinations would be conducted from January 6, 2019, to January 20, 2019.
The NTA has also announced the dates for the announcement of the results as well. According to Vineet Joshi, director-general, NTA, “We are also establishing a countrywide network of test practice centres (TPCs) for students of rural areas so that everyone will have an opportunity to practice before the exam. From September 1, 2019, every Saturday and Sunday, 2,697 schools/ engineering colleges with computer centres are being made available and any student can use the facility free of charge. A mobile application is being developed which will enable the students to choose the nearest TPC.”
The UGC-NET December 2018 will be the first exam to be conducted by the NTA from December 9 to 23, 2018, while JEE-main 1 will be conducted from January 6 to 20, 2019 and JEE-main 2 will be from April 6 to 20, 2019.
