NEET Counselling 2018 –As per the notification released by the Medical Counselling Committee(MCC), All India level quota counselling, as well as the counselling for Deemed Universities, has begun from June 13, 2018. The MCC has also released a new detailed FAQs document along with the various seat matrices for seats available for All India Quota and Deemed/Central Universities. NEET 2018 was conducted on May 6, 2018, and the result was declared on June 4, 2018.  Those candidates who have qualified NEET by securing the minimum qualifying percentile only will be eligible for the NEET counselling 2018 and eventually, admission. Candidates in general category will need to score a minimum of 50thpercentile, those belonging to SC/ST/OBC will need to score 40thpercentileand for General – PH category it is 45th percentile. From June 13 to June 23, on behalf of Medical Counselling committee (MCC), The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) will conduct the first round of counsellingfor admissions through NEET 2018to 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats in Government medical and dental colleges across all states (except J&K), 85% state quota seats in colleges affiliated to Delhi University (Maulana Azad Medical College, Lady Harding Medical College, University College of Medical Sciences and Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences), 100% seats in Deemed and Central universities (including BDS seats at Jamia Millia Islamia) seats reserved for State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) and for wards of Insured Persons (IP quota), seats at the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune.

Medical aspirants will be able to register on the official website of Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) to make choices till 5 pm, June 18, and complete payment till 12 noon, June 19. The final choice filling and locking will be allowed between 10 am and 5 pm on June 19. The back-end process of seat allotment will take place on the MCC server on June 20 and June 21 while the result of NEET first round seat allotment will be declared on June 22. Candidates will then be required to report to their allotted colleges between June 23 and July 3, 2018. Between July 6 and July 22, counselling will be held similarly for the second round of AIQ, Deemed and Central Universities while the mop-up round exclusively for Deemed and Central Universities will be conducted between August 12 and August 26, 2018.

Allocation of seats in government medical and dental colleges, and in other private and self-financing institutions is 85% for the remaining state quota seats (100% in case of J&K), in which all states will be allocated by the respective state counselling authorities. For the participation in NEET counselling, 2018 candidates will need to register separately with different counselling authorities. The detailed information about the schedule of counselling is made available on the websites of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Medical Education Directorates of States.

NEET 2018 Counselling Details

In 2017, approximately 65,170 seats of MBBS in 470 medical colleges and around 25,730 seats of BDS in 308 Dental colleges were available. Medical Council Committee is responsible for managing counselling procedure of 15% AIQ seats, Deemed Universities/Central Universities/Seats of ESIC & AFMC including BHU & AMU. All medical institutions consider NEET score to provide admission in MBBS/BDS colleges.  For the counselling of 15% All India Quota and 85% State Quota, seats are separately organized in all medical & dental colleges.

Seats for MBBS/BDS are filled in the following categories:

  • All India Quota Seats
  • State Government Quota Seats
  • Central Institutions/Universities/Deemed Universities
  • State/Management/NRI Quota Seats in Private Medical/ Dental Colleges or any Private University
  • Central Pool Quota Seats

NEET Counselling for 15% AIQ

15% All India Quota(AIQ) seats- Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) India is responsible for the counselling. Only those candidates will be able to participate in All India counselling who score above the 15% cut-off. Through this counselling process, candidates can get admission in top medical colleges located anywhere in India. Candidates, those who will participate in this counselling can also take part in state quota counselling of their respective states. The seats will be allotted as per the All India rank of the candidate and choices filled.

In 2018, around 714562candidates have qualified for NEET counselling. The DGHS will be conducting counselling for AIQ seats NEET 2018 in two rounds for Deemed and Central universities (plus an additional third round for BDS seats). The first round of Counselling for AIQ and Deemed/Central universities will be conducted from June 13 onwards and the second round will be conducted from July 6 onwards. After two rounds of NEET counselling 2018, the seats which will remain vacant for AIQ seats will be transferred to the respective state counselling authorities by July 23, 2018. For Deemed and Central universities, the DGHS will conduct a NEET mop up counselling round from August 12 to August 26, 2018, followed by another mop up round for BDS seats between September 1 and September 11, 2018. Different State Counselling Authorities are responsible for conducting counselling for state quota. 

NEET Counselling Procedure 2018

  • Registration

During the first stage, a candidate has to do the registration by logging on into the official website of MCC. Without registration on website, candidates will not be able to fill the college and course choice. On completing the registration process, a unique User ID & Password will be generated and sent to the candidate’s registered email ID and mobile number. With the help of generated user ID and password, the candidate will be able to proceed for further processes.

  • Submission of Choice & Locking

In this step of submission and locking of choices, candidates will have to fill the choices of courses and colleges according to their major preferences. After this, candidates have to click on ‘Save’ button to lock their filled choices. Without saving the filled choices, the choices will not be considered as locked choices.

  • Seat Allotment Result

After the submission of choice and locking within a few days, the seat allotment result will be declared by the authority on their official website. Candidates can view the allotment result. Candidates will receive a SMS and email regarding allotment of course & college on their given mobile number & mail address. The seats for NEET admission will be allotted as per the candidate’s filled choices.

  • Modify and Lock

Candidates can modify their choices if they are not satisfied with the allotted seats. Candidates have to login into the official website with their login ID, password and modify the choices. And the candidate has to lock the choices again after modification.

  • Reporting to Allotted College

Candidate will have to report to the respective college and confirm the allotted seat by paying the initial fee and have to complete all the required admission formalities. In the scenario where the candidate fails to report to the allotted college within the given period, the seat will be transferred automatically to another candidate.

  • Second Round of Counselling

Before finalization of a seat in any college, if candidates are not satisfied with the allotted seat, they can proceed for the next round of counselling.  Those candidates who will be allotted seats in the second round of 15% All India Quota counselling will not be allowed to vacate their respective seats. 

NEET Admission 2018

After the completion of NEET counselling 2018, candidates will have to report to their allotted colleges within the specified time interval. Candidates can report to the concerned colleges along with the allotment letter. At the time of visit, candidates need to carry the original required documents with one set of photocopy. If any candidate is found to have submitted false information at a later stage, his or her seat will be cancelled and transferred to another candidate.
