JoSAA Counselling 2018 – Eligibility Criteria, Procedure, Schedule and Fee

The Counseling for JEE Main will start in June 2018. JEE Main is a national-level examination, which was held on April 8, 2018, for paper-based mode and on April 15 and 16, 2018 for online mode. The most important exam for engineering aspirants took place in 248 cities across India, and also in 10 cities abroad. Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main was conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for the candidates seeking admissions to various Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and other institutions in India for pursuing Architecture and Engineering courses. JEE main exam 2018 contained a total of 90 multiple choice questions (MCQs) or objective type questions with equal weightage to all subjects. Before the registration and choice-filling, candidates should check all the details related to JoSAA eligibility criteria for JoSAA Counselling 2018:

JoSAA Counselling 2018 – Eligibility Criteria: Paper I (B.Tech)

  • Candidates should have secured a score above the cut-off mark in JEE Main 2018 Paper I, i.e., B.Tech.
  • Candidates should have qualified 12th standard (or equivalent) examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/Technical Vocational Subject.
  • For admission to NITs (National Institutes of Technology), IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology) and GFTIs (Government Founded Technical Institutions), the general category candidates should have scored 75% or more and OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD candidates should have secured 65% marks or more.

JoSAA Counselling 2018- Eligibility Criteria: Paper II (B.Arch)

  • Candidates should have qualified JEE Main 2018 Paper II, i.e., B.Arch.
  • Candidates should have had Mathematics as one of the subjects in 12thStandard (or equivalent) examination.
  • For admissions into NITs, IITs, and GFTIs, the general category candidates should have obtained a minimum of 75% aggregate marks and the OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD candidates should have scored 65% or more, aggregate, in five subjects including Mathematics.

JEE Main Counselling and Seat Allotment Procedure

JEE Main 2018 Counselling has been organized by JoSAA(Joint Seat Allocation Authority) which has been set up by the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) to regulate and manage the Joint Seat Allocation for admissions to 97 institutes, for the academic year 2018-19, which includes 23 IITs, 31 NITs, and 20 Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs). Different academic programmes are offered for admissions to these institutes.

If the candidates clear the cutoff marks, they will be eligible for the process and they will have to follow the following 6 steps for JEE Main counselling and seat allotment procedure:

Step-1 JoSAA Counselling 2018 – Registration

First of all, candidates need to login on the official website and register themselves using their JEE Main 2018 roll no. and password. The registration is compulsory and free of cost.

Step-2 JoSAA Counselling 2018 – Choice Filling

The candidates will be asked the priority list of colleges, at the time of selection, where they want to pursue their graduation. The colleges should be selected in the order of priority and preference. The candidates should put the most preferred college and programme, first and the least preferred option at the end.

Step-3 List of Seat Allotment and Announcement for JoSAA Counselling 2018

JoSAA will allocate programmes to the candidates in order of their ranks. The rank list will be released category-wise, online.

Step-4 JEE Main Counselling-Allotment Letter and Seat Acceptance Fee

Download your “Provisional Seat Allotment Letter” and e-challan for payment of seat-acceptance fee, which is Rs.45,000/- for general category and Rs.20,000/- for others. Payment can be made only through e-challan and SBI net banking.

Step-5: JoSAA Counselling 2018 – Reporting for Document Verification

Report at the designated center for physical document verification. If the rules are found to be violated, the concerned seat allotment will be declared void. Original documents, along with a set of photocopy, will be required to be submitted. The original documents will be returned, while the copies will have to be submitted. The following documents would be required:

  • JEE Main Provisional Seat Allocation Letter
  • JEE Main Rank Card
  • 10th & 12th Mark sheet
  • JEE Main Counselling Form
  • 2 Passport-Sized Photos
  • JEE Main 2018 Admit Card
  • Category Certificate, if any
  • Medical Fitness Certificate

Step-6 JEE Main Counselling –Reporting at Allotted Institute

Finally, the student will have to report to the allotted institute for confirmation of admission. If a student wants to switch a college on account of the vacancy in another college, he will have to report to the new college.
