AIIMS 2018 Topper Interview: Eliza Bansal secured AIR 1 in the All India Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Entrance Exam when the results were declared on June 18. The 17-year-old Eliza Bansal, who hails from Punjab’s Sangrur district, has emerged as AIIMS 2018 topper after getting the highest percentile. “I want to serve the people of our nation. Further, I want to become a cardiologist. I cannot express it in words. It is just an amazing feeling and I am letting the feeling just seep in”, Eliza said while speaking about her future plans.
“My father is a lecturer at Mahatma Buddha Teachers Training College, Sitamarhi and my mother is a teacher in my home district. My brother is studying at IIT-Guwahati and my sister studied at NIT and now she is serving in the defence services. My parents and siblings were always there to give me moral support and each of them had been a great example for me to look up to and achieve my goal.”
AIIMS 2018 topper found AIIMS MBBS entrance exam a bit tougher than the NEET 2018 even though she had studied from CBSE. She said “the overall level of difficulty of the AIIMS paper was a bit higher and it was tougher to crack the medical exam. Meanwhile, NEET paper was easy to solve.”
When asked about her preparation strategies, she said “apart from taking coaching for the MBBS exam, I did four to five hours of self-study. In my free time, I used to chit chat with my friends.”
Eliza, a student of Dr Devraj DAV Public School, scored 94.6 per cent in class 12th board examination, while she had got a CGPA of 10 in class tenth.
“My family has been my biggest support. Also, my teachers have helped me in clearing the examination”, said Eliza.
On taking a step closer to becoming a doctor, Eliza said: “Looking at my academic performance, my teachers motivated and asked me to become a doctor.”

TIPS TO CRACK AIIMS 2019 EXAMINATION
AIIMS MBBS is a national level examination which is held at 155 centres throughout the country.
